The ethnic Rohingya population in the Rakhine province in Myanmar are undergoing a serious genocide at the hands of the majority Buddhists. The locals are fleeing to the neighbouring countries like India and Bangladesh who have rather been unwelcome to them. The former more unwelcoming compared to the latter.
Many of the Refugees have landed in Jammu. Although they are already living in slum-like conditions, the voices for their deportation are rising among the ruling BJP and its supporters in Jammu.
As per data 3000 refugees are currently staying in Narwal and Bantalab areas of Jammu.
